Live Edge Pendant Light Project

I’ve had a finished kitchen for nearly five years. In that time I’d wanted to install pendant lights but I’d made an error on light receptacle placement in ceiling and everything was off center.

Initially, I planned to mount the wood to the ceiling, to cover the misplaced light recepticles and hang pendant lights from it.

Once the wood was held above the island it was clear it should be the center of attention. The room was perfectly setup for a bold centerpiece like this 57″ black walnut slab holding 3″ LED’s on a dimmer.

Designing a way to mount the light was tough, cables wouldn’t work as the weight wasn’t balanced. A friend suggested copper and I knew exactly what to use. 1/2″ copper water line and t fittings reshaped into mounts.
